Yarn conditioning
Yarn conditioning
A post-dyeing treatment that restores the optimal moisture content of the yarn after drying, through exposure in a humidified environment or the use of special conditioning machines. Each textile fibre has a standard regain moisture (e.g. cotton 7-11%, wool 13-18%) that affects the physical properties of the yarn such as flexibility and strength. Conditioning ensures that the dyed yarn reaches the standard characteristics before delivery.
