Greige yarn
Greasy yarn / Raw yarn
Yarn fresh from spinning, not yet subjected to any dyeing or finishing treatment. Greige yarn still contains spinning oils and the natural impurities of the fibre that must be removed with preparatory treatments (washing, boiling, bleaching) before dyeing. It represents the starting material of the yarn dyeing finishing cycle.
