Liquor ratio
Liquor ratio
The ratio between the weight of the material to be dyed and the volume of the dye bath, expressed for example as 1:10 (1 kg of yarn for 10 litres of bath). The liquor ratio influences the uniformity of dyeing, the consumption of dyes and auxiliaries, and energy consumption: lower ratios reduce costs but require greater attention to uniformity. In modern package dyeing, low liquor ratios (1:5 to 1:8) are used to optimize efficiency.
